We’re excited to be named a 2023 New England Food Vision Prize winner by the Henry P. Kendall Foundation! Together with the Boston Area Gleaners / Boston Food Hub, Harvesting Good, and Smithfield Public Schools we will receive $200,000 to help expand the supply chain linking Maine-grown broccoli with the robust network of K-12 schools, colleges, and institutions in Southern New England.
Through a partnership between Farm Fresh RI, Boston Food Hub & Harvesting Good, frozen broccoli that is grown, harvested, and processed in Maine will be connected to institutional customers throughout Southern New England, in part through our Market Mobile program. This project will have a primary focus on connecting Harvesting Good’s broccoli to K-12 schools in RI and MA with a secondary focus on colleges, hospitals and other institutions.
Thank you #KendallFoundation! Launched by the Henry P. Kendall Foundation in 2018, the New England Food Vision Prize Program aims to increase the amount of local and regional food prepared and served on New England college and university campuses and within K-12 public school districts, helping to strengthen the region’s food system. The Prize program, offered annually, awards grants up to $200,000 to winning teams. Prizes are awarded to projects that build resilience, relationships, and capacity within New England’s academic institutional food supply chain, resulting in increased preparation, sourcing, serving, or use and consumption of local and regional food at K-12 schools and higher education institutions.
